Starter Kits

Net Rumble is a complete XNA Game Studio game that you can build, play, and modify. Showcasing the new multiplayer features in XNA Game Studio, Net Rumble is a two-dimensional shooter where up to sixteen players compete online in a death match arena filled with asteroids and power-ups. With source code and art included, Net Rumble provides an excellent starting point for creating your own online multiplayer game using XNA Game Studio.


To install the Net Rumble Starter Kit:

1. Download the Net Rumble .vsi files.

2. Run Visual Studio Installer, following the on-screen instructions.

3. On the Visual C# Express File menu, click New Project.
This may take a minute to load the template for the first time.

4. Choose Net Rumble Starter Kit, and then click OK.


The Ship Game starter kit is a complete XNA Game Studio game. The game comes ready to compile and run, and you are free to use its source code as the basis for your own XNA Game Studio game projects, and to share your work with others.

Ship Game is a 3D spaceship combat game set inside a complex tunnel system. Ship Game features advanced lighting and textures, a full GPU particle system, and advanced physics. Explore the tunnels on your own, or take on a friend head-to-head using split-screen mode.

Ship game is available for Creators Club Premium members. 

To install the Ship Game Starter Kit:

1. If you are a Creators Club Premium member download the Ship Game .vsi files.

The Racing Game Starter Kit is a complete XNA Game Studio Express game. The highly anticipated project, originally created for Microsoft by Benjamin Nitschke of exDream Entertainment, comes ready to compile and run, and it's easy to customize with a little bit of C# programming. You are free to use the source code as the basis for your own XNA Game Studio Express game projects, and to share your work with others.

Racing Game is a 3D auto racing game that features advanced graphics, audio, and input processing. Race around the track and try to beat the ghost car to achieve the best time.

To install the Racing Game Starter Kit:

1. Download the Racing Game .vsi files.

2. Run Visual Studio Installer, following the on-screen instructions.

3. On the Visual C# Express File menu, click New Project.
This may take a minute to load the template for the first time.

4. Choose Racing Game Starter Kit, and then click OK.


This starter kit provides a complete XNA Game Studio Express game, including source code and game content such as models, textures, and sounds.

Marblets is a puzzle-style game that challenges you to eliminate groups of same-colored bubbles. The more bubbles you eliminate at one time, the higher your score. This starter kit version offers only a few game modes, providing ample opportunity to add your own unique game types and modes.

To install the Marblets Starter Kit:

1. Download the Marblets .vsi files.

2. Run Visual Studio Installer, following the on-screen instructions.

3. On the Visual C# Express File menu, click New Project.
This may take a minute to load the template for the first time.

4. XNA GS 2.0: In the New Project dialog, ensure that the Project Type is set to "Visual C#" instead of "XNA Game Studio 2.0."  You also may have to scroll down to find Marblets.  For more information, see our Support page.

5. Choose Marblets Starter Kit, and then click OK.
