Learn how to create games with samples, tutorials, and more.
The Education section is where you can learn all about the development tasks you need to make a game. We are constantly developing and releasing content. Our goal is to help you gain skill and learn new techniques to create cutting-edge games.
Education is separated by dev area and content type. You can see the dev areas on the right side of the screen. When you click a dev area, you’ll see only the content for that dev area. The various content types are:
- Samples — Code projects that demonstrate a particular finished technique.
- Tutorials — Code projects and supporting documents or videos that illustrate a step-by-step process.
- Articles — Documents that illustrate a technically-detailed concept.
- Starter Kits — Fully-playable games you can modify or break apart to use in other games.
- Mini Games — Small games that demonstrate a variety of concepts
- Utilities — Code or content that makes developing your game easier.
Yes, you can. For specifics on how you can use the code and assets, see the Microsoft Permissive License (Ms-PL) found here.
