New Features Coming to XNA Creators Club!
News
As you know, your feedback is what drives our team. We’re constantly working to make the experience of getting your creations out to the millions of Xbox LIVE subscribers easier for you. In our next update coming in the first part of March we’re hoping to meet a few of your requests.
Many Creators have complained about “Peer Review Fatigue.” Regardless of the reason, games skipping past the playtest stage and going into Peer Review before they have been thoroughly tested have caused many Creators to grow frustrated with our system. We encourage all Creators to help each other out and be sure to thoroughly playtest your title before submitting to Peer Review. No matter what stage your own title is in please remember to help other creators out by playtesting and Peer Reviewing games.
The Peer Review process is for games that are
ready to ship only. To help insure the stability and seriousness of the Peer Review step of the Xbox LIVE Community Games process we’re instituting a
seven day waiting period for rejected or cancelled games. What this means is that if you submit your game for Peer Review and it is rejected or if you need to cancel it for any reason – you will need to wait seven days. During that seven day waiting period Playtest will be available for you to use.
One request that has been made the most often is a request to change the price of your titles. This update will permit Creators to change the price of their game once every 90 days. Changing the price of your game is something you should certainly put serious thought into, though. There are many
forum threads with some great discussions about the value of games and setting those expectations with the consumers. They are worth reading! Due to this addition to the business side of things it does mean that making your games sales data and download history will not be available to Creators until the end of March.
Perhaps the most exciting update (to me at least) is the introduction of
RSS feeds! We’ll have feeds for the Approved games catalog (by country and by creator), News, Creators spotlights, and education catalog! These feeds will also be readable by Silverlight and Flash for creation of gadgets or widgets (
hint hint!). As ever, if you have any questions send them to me
XNAKat@Microsoft.com or check our
Forums where our incredible MVPs are always on hand to help out.
