It has become increasingly apparent that some Creators need a refresh on the rules of Peer Review. In recent months we have seen a few Creators using multiple accounts to abuse the system by reviewing and passing their own games. This is not tolerated. From the outset, gaming of the system has been a severe violation and clearly outlined in the Peer Review Terms and Conditions. Below is the excerpt from the Peer Review Terms and Conditions:

I will not review any game which I participated in developing and will not ever review my own work.

Currently, we do not require Peer Reviewers to leave feedback when submitting a Peer Review, or in the Peer Review forum. However, leaving feedback earns you positive reputation and is considered key to the health of the entire Xbox LIVE Indie Games system. Creators who consistently fail to leave feedback raise red flags for our team. Therefore, it is in everyone’s best interest to take the time to leave feedback whenever possible!

To maintain the integrity of the system, XNA Creators Club Online keeps the following standard policy in regards to violations:
(Please be aware that Microsoft reserves the right to ban an account at anytime.)

  • First Violation: Warning email.
  • Second Violation: Temporary ban of of your XNA Creators Club Online account for a specific period of time. This will be in addition to a second warning email.
  • Third Violation: Permanent banning of your XNA Creators Club Online account, removal of all associated accounts and Xbox LIVE Indie Games
  • Additional violations could result in escalating punishment, up to and including, banning of associated Xbox LIVE accounts and Xbox 360 Consoles.
Please understand that we take these measures to protect our system and community. The majority of our amazing Creators are fantastic and professional and we thank you for all you’ve done to make XNA Creators Club Online and Xbox LIVE Indie Games as successful as it is!

As ever, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to search our forums or email us directly at creators@microsoft.com!
